VAPING: understanding the risks and educating users

Course Overview

We are currently experiencing an explosion in the use of vaping products  – particularly the use of so called ‘puff bars’ by young people. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the issues relating to the use of e-cigarettes or ‘vapes’.

The training is suitable for all staff who require a better understanding of the issues relating to the vaping of nicotine based products, disposable ‘puff bars’  and the vaping of other products such as cannabis.

The course covers the research into the risks associated with vaping and in particular how to educate young people . Cost includes course materials and educational materials.

What you will learn

  • To understand the history of vaping and its current popularity – particularly with young people.
  • To examine the different types of e-cigarettes/vapes and their use by different population groups.
  • To understand the benefits of using e-cigarettes for those who want to stop smoking.
  • To examine the health research on vaping and the risks associated for regular users.
  • To understand the impact of nicotine on the developing adolescent brain and the implications for the users long term health.
  • To examine the use of vapes for taking other drugs such as cannabis and alcohol.
  • To explore the options for educating users of vapes.

Course materials

Each participant will receive  a copy of the presentation materials used on the day.

Delivery options

    1. Fully interactively via Zoom enabling delegates to join from wherever they are. The  Zoom training has all the qualities of in person training  – group work, video case studies, Q and A thouroughout – but at a reduced cost and with no travel/accomodation expenses. The course usually lasts from 9.15a.m. to 1.15p.m. for those booking the course for in-house staff training the timings can be adapted to suit your particular needs and requirements.
    2. Face to Face Delivery at your own venue. The timings can be adapted to suit your particular needs and requirements.

    This course is available as an In-House training course for your staff team and as an Open Course if you want to book an individual or small group onto a multiagency course.
