COUNTY LINES: drugs, exploitation and greed
Course Overview
‘County Lines’ is a form of criminal exploitation where gangs groom and exploit children and vulnerable young adults to sell drugs. Often these young people are made to travel across counties and use dedicated mobile phone ‘lines’ to supply drugs. Criminals are deliberately targeting vulnerable children – particularly those experiencing learning difficulties, going through family breakdowns, struggling at school, living in care homes or trapped in poverty.
Once they’ve been drawn in, these children are controlled using threats, violence and sexual abuse, leaving them traumatised and living in fear.
This important course explores how ‘county lines’ operate, indicators of involvement and how to report your concerns. The training is suitable for any professional supporting children and young people who may be at risk of exploitation.
